As you are probably aware, a severe earthquake hit China’s Western provinces. More than 71,000 people are reported to be dead, buried or missing following Monday’s 7.9 magnitude quake, and more than 220,000 people were injured. About 5 million people were made homeless, whose conditions continued to be threatened by strong aftershocks, mudslides and forthcoming heavy rainfall raising the fears of devastating flooding.

To help with relief work and bring desperately needed help to those who have survived the earthquake, a campaign has been started to collect money. If you would like to join this campaign and help build temporary shelters for people who have lost everything, and bring clean water and food to the survivors then you can donate through the following channels.

Ordinarily I do not allow this sort of post. However, in this case, Hereditarius and the NWI wanted to help in even a small way to deal with this appalling disaster, and so, we agreed to allow the poster [who asked our permission first] to post this appeal. I shall surely be amongst the donators.

I would also like to say to our Chinese readers, that our greatest sympathy is with you at this time.
