Only in Britain could we be haunted by a headless duck of all things: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20080509/ ... 6b408.html

Sounds a little like one of those tales about the idiots in the next village... trying to pen the Cuckoo, putting manure round the church tower to make it grow, etc.

On a coincidentally spooky note, I went to an open evening at a cemetery a couple of days ago... at last - a legitimate reason to spend the evening hanging around a graveyard

Interesting, partly because it's located within an old quarry, and includes tombs actually cut into the rockface... Victorian, but somehow seeming so much older. Bits of it are still massively overgrown, and it's a bit freaky to be strolling through what seems like normal woodland, only to have a tombstone rear up at you through the undergrowth.

Not exactly on the same scale as Highgate, but interesting nevertheless.

And of course it has a website: http://www.theoldcem.co.uk

now that sounds like a fun night. I don't have much experience of graveyards at night, though I do recall a halloween sojourn into the church yard of the church in one of the most haunted villages of britain with a certain nwi archivist to see if the local legend in the walk 6 times round the church vein was indeed true.
