fascinating story. One of the things i take away from this is that one of the I presume nearby streets is called Well View. It is easy to think of the Well not having survived and the history having been forgetten and such typographical references being the only clue (though not in this case). Makes me rethink the origins of especially urban street names such as Shadwell in London.

Reading the mythologising of Wells, by relating them to historical personages, I was interested to see today a 'Helen Keller' well.
